A Revolution in Heart Care at Deaconess Hospital

Are you at risk for coronary artery disease (CAD)? Has your doctor diagnosed you or someone you love with heart disease? Must you undergo an additional procedure for your CAD? You are not alone.

Deaconess Hospital is pleased to announce the introduction of the drug-eluting stent -- the latest breakthrough in coronary stent technology. It is designed to prevent re-blockage from occurring within the stent and has shown excellent clinical results.

Stents are wire "tunnels" that hold clogged blood vessels open and enhance proper blood flow to the heart.  Regular stents can create scar tissue and blood vessel reclogging in about 30% of patients.  Drug eluting stents are coated in a special drug that is released slowly over time, preventing re-clogging in more than 95% of patients.  This remarkable technological advancement offers hope and quality of life improvements to individuals with heart disease in the tri-state.

For more information about the new drug-eluting stents, please consult your cardiologist. Also check out our partner Web site for details.

As a trusted leader in heart care, Deaconess Hospital was the first facility in the tri-state to implant a drug-eluting stent in a patient with heart disease.  Another example of our devotion to your health.
